In this series “Get to Know Your XPRO,” XPRO’s for Xponential+ share more about themselves and their fitness knowledge. Working out is always more fun when you know your instructor on a deeper level, so check out what Tamara Teragawa of YogaSix had to say below.
I am from San Dimas, CA and now I live in San Diego!
I've been active since a young age and have always loved it. I first started teaching dance over 10 years ago when I used to dance in college and professionally (like most dancers), which is where I first stepped foot into teaching movement of any sort. Shortly after I started doing yoga, I completed my 200 Hour YTT certification with zero intention of ever teaching. But yoga had such a significant impact on my life that I could not wait to share it with as many people as possible and decided to start teaching. Now I am a 500 Hour RYT, including certifications in Power, Vinyasa, Restorative, Trauma-informed, Children’s, Aerial, Senior and Chair Yoga. I also have my NASM personal training certification.
Oh, I cannot pick just ONE favorite form of working out. I obviously love yoga, but I pick my workouts based off of my mood. Sometimes I will weight train; some days I work out in groups and do Crossfit; sometimes when I feel the need to be more creative, I will pole dance or do other forms of dancing or aerial. Other days I just need a solid run to feel free and light. More recently, I've picked up boxing and that has been fun to feel powerful in my body in an entirely different way!
Yoga mat!
Headphones are number one! I also keep a water bottle, straps and belt for lifting, deodorant, and gum. Chewing somehow gets me more focused.
Cute and fun sport bras, Align yoga pants from lululemon (they feel like butter!), and my Nike Metcons for weight training. Otherwise I'll do it barefoot; I love working out without shoes on.
Does guacamole count?
Eggs with spinach and mushrooms! (And guacamole of course.)
Locally, my favorite place is the Beach Trail at Torrey Pines, but if I could choose one of my favorite places ever for a walk, that would be up in NorCal at Fern Canyon or anywhere in the Redwoods.
Oh this is a challenging one! It depends on the workout but lately some of my favorite artist to move
to are: Beyonce, CryJaxx, WYR Gemi, ZHU, and Amber Mark.
