Get to Know Your XPRO: Lauren Reid, STRIDE Coach for Xponential+

In this series “Get to Know Your XPRO,” XPRO’s for Xponential+ share more about themselves and their fitness knowledge. Working out is always more fun when you know your instructor on a deeper level, so check out what Lauren Reid of STRIDE had to say below.

Where are you from and where do you currently live?

I’m from Lake Forest, CA and still there now.

How long have you been teaching and what are some of your certifications?

I've been teaching or coaching in some capacity for 10 years. I have my AFAA Group Fitness Certification and a few pre & postnatal exercise certifications. I also coached high school track and field for a couple of years.

Why did you start teaching fitness?

I loved writing workouts for myself and sharing them with friends. My sister Kelly, another STRIDE instructor, was doing the same and we decided to team up to start our business, SISSFiT together.
We focus on high intensity cardio/running and teaching others that cardio doesn't have to be boring!

What is your favorite workout to do on your own time and why?

I love track intervals, specifically sprinting! I was a Division 1 heptathlete (7 events) in college, and track still has my heart. It's so peaceful yet challenging, and it makes me feel strong and powerful in a way that no other workout can.

What is your favorite piece of workout equipment?

Probably a treadmill, which I NEVER thought I would say as a former track athlete. The workout options are endless.

What is your go-to breakfast to start the day off on the right foot?

If I have a full day ahead, probably a piece of avocado toast with an egg and a cup of coffee. But some days, it's just a bar and coffee as I head to my computer.

What is your favorite place to go on a run or walk?

Anywhere near water! Beach, lake, river, etc. If I'm not near water, then I'm happy with a quiet trail.

Who is your biggest inspiration?

Probably my grandpa. He's no longer with us, but he was an incredible athlete, father, grandfather, and man of faith. He was an alternate for the 1952 Olympic basketball team in Helsinki. He raised seven amazing children, 18 grandchildren and was such a loving, hardworking, inspirational and supportive man every step of the way. He was a major sports fan and one of my personal biggest supporters.

What are your top 3 tips to stay motivated with fitness?

- Consistency. It's less about staying motivated, and more about staying consistent and
forming a habit because that's what will keep you accountable in the long run.

- Find something you love and that works for you. If you hate running, don't run. Find what keeps you engaged.

- Surround yourself with likeminded individuals. It's really empowering and motivating to find others in the same fitness space you're choosing, and it reminds you that we all have good days and bad days. We may slip sometimes and crush it at other times, but that's life, and we're in it together and rooting on one another.
